Martha Giles
illustrator musician teacher

Individual lessons on the piano or the hammered dulcimer are taught in my Virginia Beach home.  Bells, glockenspiels, lyres, drums, Joia Tubes, Boomwhackers, and instruments from all over the world (see Instrument Photo Gallery) contribute to joyful learning. My unique Musical Instrument Lending Library is popular with young students.

Lessons are usually thirty minutes long, once a week. A semester-long commitment  is usually required.

New students are being accepted for Fall Semester 2010.  For more information, please contact me.

Hammerkidz By the Bay are children and teens who are learning to play the hammered dulcimer.  At our lively jam sessions (about once a month) we share favorite tunes (and snacks), learn new tunes and techniques, and have fun experimenting with many musical instruments.  If you're a young person in southeastern Virginia who loves the sound of the hammered dulcimer, please join us!  To learn more, contact me.

Hammerkidz By the Bay were featured in a recent Dulcimer Players News story.
